While Dale Davenport began his law practice as a general practitioner, it now focuses on helping businesses organize and operate.

Law Practice Experience

Dale’s practice revolves around helping businesses organize and operate.  He provides legal counsel and services in entity formation and governance matters, financing transactions, contracts and business asset transfers.  He is the lead lawyer for the firm as general counsel to a large electric distribution cooperative and he provides ongoing counsel to a large community bank.  In addition, a substantial part of his practice deals with insolvency cases, usually representing a secured creditor in a workout or bankruptcy, but occasionally handling Chapter 11 debtor’s work or representing insiders of troubled businesses.  He has had a role in almost all the significant local reorganization cases during the past thirty-five years and is a co-author of the Virginia State Bar Bankruptcy Handbook.

Member Virginia State Bar; Harrisonburg-Rockingham County Bar Association, (past President); Chairman, Board of Governors, Bankruptcy Section of the Virginia State Bar 2003-2004; Electric Cooperative Bar Association 2000-present.  Dale is perennially recognized for his work in the insolvency field by listings in Best Lawyers in America, U.S. News and World Report Best Lawyers, Virginia Legal Elite, and Virginia Super Lawyers.  Martindale Hubbell “AV” rated.

Personal Information

Dale and his wife have raised two daughters. Dale loves building and sailing small boats.
